What exactly is a draft inducer motor? What does it do?
I have no heat in my house and haven’t for days. The repairman said it’s the inducer motor. What does this mean? What exactly is a draft inducer motor? How serious it this?
It is a positive pressure blower that energizes when there is a call for heat. It blows air into the vent for about 30 seconds at the beginning of the heating sequence in order to prove that the vent to the outside is clear and will permit combustion gas to be drawn up into it.
It is serious only in that the furnace will not begin operation so there won’t be any heat in your house so it needs to be repaired or replaced.
