Make your home more energy efficient through the use of Energy Star approved LED lighting. LED, light-emitting diode, lighting is more efficient, durable, versatile and longer lasting than incandescent and fluorescents lighting. LEDs emit light in a specific direction enabling them to use light and energy more effectively. Although you will find LED lighting’s ability to use 75% less energy than incandescent fixtures appealing; they are more expensive. There are several LED products available, but keep in mind not all LEDs are alike. Choosing Energy Star qualified lighting will ensure you have purchased a proven product. Instant lighting, color quality and no flicker are just a few of the strict tests that LED lighting products must pass in order to be awarded Energy Star approval.
There are several LED indoor and outdoor lighting options to complete any home project from renovating, building to upgrading. Design an easy accessible walk way and porch with outdoor LED wall-mounted porch lights, step lights and pathway lights. Accent your workspace with a LED indoor portable desk lamp and tasks light, or highlight granite counter-tops with under-cabinet kitchen lights. Consider adding energy efficient recessed down lights to your home; they will reduce cooling cost as they waste no energy or light. Also, set the mood or adjust lighting of a room to your needs by purchasing a dimmer switch.
