Recruitment unfinished basement?
Please advise me on which way I go to hire a contractor to finish my basement. Should I hire the electrician, plumber and drywaller separately ... or should I hire a contractor who subcontracts all those people? My husband and I love working together on our house projects, so we'd like to do some work ourselves. For the amateurs, which could be done away with ourselves with the dummy of a "book"? Also, is there any advise anyone can give me to avoid any-cost tactics and confusion. (My friend had a house built with a porch ... but I discovered that the fence was extra.) Things like that. Thank you very much for any advice you can give me advantages!
The first thing to do is sit and make a list of the features you want in your renovation. We need to check with your local municipality to see if you must have a permit work - this can influence how much work will address them due to time constraints, or licensing requirements. Check with local contractors and staff maintenance ... Ask for references, and get quotes (shouldn't cost anything from these) - Check references! Ask if they are happy with the job, and if the contractor was well organized, easy to work, etc (believe it or not there teams and individuals who are experts in all aspects of remodeling, and repair work, hehehe) and inquire about your insurance! Since you want to do some of the same work is also necessary to find a contractor who is willing to work with you. Sometimes this can be a challenge, hehehe not know their skill levels, its more difficult to suggest what work could be done .... what you feel comfortable doing that, now could be whatever I wanted to address. Plan the work, the work of the Plan, hehehe ... just taken a step all at once. Have Fun
