Better / more efficient and cheaper than ever are the same. low-cost means to make compromises on performance, reliability, etc. Using electricity for wastefull heating is, and nothing less than an industrial sized photovoltaic system will be able to hand over power reqiured of typical 2-3kW electric heater or a stove. More efficient 6m2 / pv expensive to produce enough for a hair dryer in good condition. besides heating demand is more for the night, big battery needed. It is better to use solar design and thermal heat stores. Even a refrigerator / heat pump has risen up the streams that need an elegant design and a larger battery to deliver.
