How can I start building a 500 watts or less a day of solar PV system?
I started studying the use of solar panels in my house. For a small-scale test to start and learn more about what I wanted to create a system of about 500 watts a day to run a lamp or two, and maybe a radio or cellular phone charger. What would be the best way to go about this and what I need to watch out for when selecting the equipment?
First things first: we must correct their units. A watt is a rate, as one mile per hour. What we want is watt-hours, a quantity that distance (miles). You can get 500 watts of something the size of a flashlight battery, but only get minutes at most. How units of law is important, if you use the wrong units, you can get the answers you are completely misleading and lose much money on something that does not work. If you want 500 watt-hours per day (for example, 100 watts of the operating costs of 5 hours / day) are needed at least 100 watts of photovoltaic panel (after correcting for losses due to the angle of light solar!). The average sun in a sunny day is equal to about 6 hours of sunlight at noon, 100-watt panel will provide up to 600 watt-hours of juice per day, or maybe after losses of 500 Wh.
