Wine and Chocolate Create Solar Energy
What do you get when you mix chocolate and wine? In the case of Clean Solar, Inc., you get solar. Silicon Valley Entrepreneur, Randy Zechman, is the founder of City Chocolate Fountains (the largest chocolate fountain rental company in the U.S.). Jeff Ritchey is a San Jose native and wine guru. He is a wine consultant for Pichetti winery, the winery, San Saba, and has two of his own labeled wines. Together they are co-founders Clean Solar, a solar installer and integrator Silicon Valley.
Randy Zechman will readily admit that he is a serial entrepreneur. A little over a year ago, with two successful companies in its portfolio: Sources from the city of chocolate and World 2 Do, Inc., Zechman was ready for a new challenge. Zechman and a friend of eight years, Jeff Ritchey, an award-winning winemaker, regularly attended a monthly series of Bay Area speakers with a group of friends. After each speaker would eventually at a local restaurant discussion on the topic of the speech of the night, global warming and health of the land were often the focus of discussions, which resulted in them and Al Gore will speak on the State of the Valley Conference in early 2007.
After seeing Al Gore speak on solutions to protect our planet, Zechman began researching the solar energy industry. Ritchey, while continuing to grow his label, Sensorium Wines, also showing increasing interest in the green movement, realizing that green technology is an ideal fit with his knowledge of geology, winemaking and construction.
Zechman knew that scientists and the ability of the construction that Ritchey could bring to the table would be the perfect complement to your business and marketing skills, Ritchey led him to focus on starting a Solar Energy Company.
Zechman and Ritchey met weekly for 6 months, and discussing the outputs of the company and ensure that their ambitions are not in the way of their friendship. "We've had a heart to heart with regard to our friendship versus business. They think that giving so much and that our friendship does not stand in the road. "Says Zechman.
"We've been friends for eight years and never thought getting into business with others, but it presents the right opportunity. With market timing, our passion for doing something good, Randy and sales experience and my marketing skills and construction techniques, we realized it was a natural fit. "Says Ritchey.
Clean Solar Inc. quickly became a reality and is now the Bay area leader in solar installation.
