New York State Adds $ 6 million funding for Long Island Power Authority

On 17 December, the Governor of the State of New York, David A. Paterson, added $ 6 million in funding for the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) through a grant that will allow LIPA to further assist homeowners installation companies and solar photovoltaic systems to Reduce Energy Bills and reduce carbon emissions.

The funds were provided through of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, or NYSERDA, in response to unprecedented demand for solar power on Long Island, LIPA will setup solar energy, Solar Pioneer / entreprenad, to continue the provision of solar rebates. Limits on the size of the system / funding are now effectively 50 per cent of the cost of installation, or 10 kilowatts (residential, commercial 100-kilowatt), whichever is less. In January 2010, the discount is likely to be capped $ 2.75 per watt for residential and commercial systems - a move necessitated by the growing demand mentioned above.

Other sensitive business limits be imposed next year, $ 1.50 per watt of 10 - to 50-kilowatt system time (up to $ 60,000) and $ 1.00 kilowatt systems per Watt 50 - 100 (up to a maximum of $ 50,000). LIPA funding for solar energy comes from the state's participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) auction of pollution whose allocation represents the nation's first market-based mandatory program to reduce greenhouse gases.

The funding is also a response to Governor Paterson declared aim of renewable energy to 45 percent of the state electricity renewable energy by 2015 - an objective surprising given the fact that the leader of the nation's solar energy, California, the terms of a simple 33 percent in 2020.

LIPA, which already has 13.5 megawatts of solar funded under his belt, also has about 450 solar energy applications pending, and has earned a slot on the list (SEPA), Solar Electric Power Association in the nation in 10 utilities energy clean.

BP Solar is a wholly owned subsidiary of BP, a global integrated energy company. BP is best known for its service stations selling gasoline, but also very diversified in the production of alternative energy, including solar and wind.

enXco Development Corp., a renewable energy distribution located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is largely borne by the wind, but more recently diversified in the construction and operation of solar power plants, geothermal and biomass.
