I need help with the wiring on a Hunter thermostat?
I am replacing a white rodgers thermostat with a programmable hunte thermostat and am having trouble with the wiring. I have two sets of wires, one with only a white and red and another with green, red, blue, yellow, and white. This is going on a heat pump unit and when I connect the wires up the heat just keeps running. I do not have any of the wires connected from the two wire line at all, just the 5 wire line.
I cannot be sure without a lot more details but try this:
Green wire to G
White wire from multi strand to W or W2
Both Red wires to R or RC (with jumper to RH)
White wire from two strand and the Yellow wire to Y
Blue wire to O/B – Only if you are sure this is a heat pump
You may have to select in programming to turn reversing valve on or off during cool or heat. It could also just be a small switch in the tstat. If you know which one great, otherwise, you will have to try both ways. Good luck…
